  • Denver Broncos Legend Terrell Davis Named CSU Rambassador

    Denver Broncos legend Terrell Davis is joining Colorado State University as a CSU Athletics Rambassador. TD joins CSU’s Presidential Executive in Residence program, which was launched earlier this year to engage top professionals from a cross-section of industries and disciplines in advisory roles and to provide direct connections for students and the broader campus community. As CSU Athletics Rambassador for this year, he will be on the sidelines for home football games, work with student-athletes and coaches across all 16 CSU sports programs, speak to classes, attend university events, and work with donors and stakeholders to secure new sources of support.

  • Sending 29 Bison to Three Native American Reservations

    In their largest transfer of bison to date, Colorado State University, the City of Fort Collins and Larimer County shipped 39 bison from the Laramie Foothills Bison Conservation Herd to three Native American tribes in Oklahoma and Kansas. The herd was established in 2015 using CSU’s expertise in assisted reproductive technologies – including in vitro fertilization, artificial insemination and embryo transfer – to produce bison that have the same heirloom genetics as those that have lived in and around Yellowstone National Park.   • Iron Brew Challenge 2024

    The second annual Iron Brew Challenge paired Colorado State University Fermentation Science and Technology students with alumni brewers from SweetWater Brewing, Odell Brewing, and New Belgium Brewing to develop beers using this year’s secret ingredient: flowers. Each brew team also worked with CSU’s Department of Art and Art History students to develop artwork, graphics and more for their beers. The competition is an interdisciplinary effort that provides students with real-world experience developing, brewing and marketing their own beer. Jenny Cavnar is an award-winning sports broadcaster who recently created history by being named the primary play-by-play voice of the Oakland A’s, making her the first woman to hold that title in Major League Baseball.   • Rams Against Hunger Fighting Food Insecurity

    What began as an opportunity for graduate students to learn about farming turned into a crucial resource to fight food insecurity at CSU. The ARDEC South Research Farm gave an acre of land to the Growing Food Security project to support the CSU community. Students grew nearly 11,500 pounds of produce this year that they donated to the Rams Against Hunger food pantry and other local organizations.   • Rooted in Abundance: 25 Years of Pride

    “Rooted in Abundance: 25 Years of Pride” is a short documentary exploring the trajectory of the Pride Resource Center and LGBTQIA+ community at Colorado State University over the past 25 years. The Fort Collins Gay, Lesbian and Bisexual Alliance, the Student Organization for Gays, Lesbians, and Bisexuals (SOGLB), and others worked with the Associated Students of Colorado State University (ASCSU) to open GLBT Student Services at CSU, which opened officially on August 1st, 1998. Following the testimonies of the center’s earliest days, the film delves into the reflections of recent CSU alumni, who emphasize the center’s profound impact on helping them succeed and graduate during their time as students.

  • CSU Wildlife Symposium Keynote Presentation by Kerry Sanders of NBC News

    The inaugural Donald and Lorena Meier Wildlife Photo and Video Symposium at Colorado State University on October 6, 2022, featured talks from nationally recognized wildlife photographers, video storytellers and professors whose creative work and research promote the sustainability of human-wildlife coexistence. NBC News Correspondent Kerry Sanders, who regularly appears on NBC Nightly News, Today, and MSNBC, was the keynote speaker. Sanders presented “Send Me There and I’ll Tell the Story”. His presentation focused on the many wildlife stories he covers in between natural disasters, wars, and other timely news stories. The symposium is a joint effort of Journalism and Media Communication’s Center for Science Communication, the College of Liberal Arts, the Broadcast Education Association, the National Press Photographers Association, International Programs and the Lory Student Center.
